Solid dose manufacturing equipment is essential for tasks in dosing, processing, and output of tablets, capsules, powders, and granules. OSD manufacturing requires equipment for mixing and granulation to tablet compressing and packaging. Some of the most common OSD manufacturing equipment includes material handling machines, such as sifters that manage particles of raw ingredients and conveyors that transfer powders between stages, along with powder blenders and mixers that create uniform blends of active ingredients in powders or combine powders with liquid to create wet granules. Dryers remove moisture, presses form solid tablets, capsule fillers handle precise dosing, and tablet coating machines and fluid bed coaters apply a polymer film layer or coating onto the finished product. A manufacturing facility may need equipment for wet granulation, dry granulation, direct compression, blending, compression, or coating or a combination of the above. All equipment must meet current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), such as through adequate performance in Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) tests.
