SPI Pharma Secures Distribution Rights for Several Excipients

SPI Pharma (SPI), a global pharmaceutical formulations supplier, announces that it has received sole distribution rights for CELLETS® MCC pellets and TAP® tartaric acid pellets, from ingredientpharm. SPI also received the sole distribution rights to directly compressible Ibuprofen DC100. This agreement includes sole distribution rights for North America, Latin America, New Zealand, and Australia. SPI plans to distribute the MCC pellets as ACTILLETS™ MCC pellets in these regions.

Microcrystalline cellulose and tartaric acid pellets are used to create modified release drugs and multi-unit particulate systems (MUPS) when used as starter cores for drug layering and coating. ACTILLETS™ MCC pellets have low friability, high sphericity, and smooth surfaces for consistent coating. TAP® tartaric acid pellets can be used to improve the solubility of weakly basic pharmaceutical actives. Ibuprofen DC100 is a 100% active granule without addition of further excipients enabling simpler, more cost-effective Ibuprofen formulations.
