LSPedia Secures Contract from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for FDA DSCSA Compliance Solutions

LSPedia has been granted a contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to deliver solutions ensuring compliance with the FDA's Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). Enacted in 2013, the DSCSA mandates end-to-end traceability for pharmaceutical products, guarding against counterfeit or illegitimate products infiltrating the supply chain.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, dedicated to providing lifelong healthcare services to U.S. military Veterans, oversees more than 1,200 care sites nationwide with a workforce exceeding 435,000 employees. In 2023, the department facilitated over 116 million healthcare appointments for Veterans. The comprehensive implementation of DSCSA compliance aligns with the VA's initiative to modernize its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, aiming to enhance care quality, enable paperless transitions from active-duty care to VA facilities, and centralize clinicians' access to Veterans' medical histories.

In its search for a partner, the VA required DSCSA-compliant technology and procedures across all dispensing locations, capable of swiftly onboarding over 300 existing trading partners and incoming vendors for EPCIS 1.2 serialization. After an extensive, nearly year-long RFP process, LSPedia's OneScan emerged as the winner, recognized for its top-tier DSCSA adherence, reliability, security, and user-friendly interface.

The VA outlined a stringent set of critical requirements, including SaaS and Federal security standards, supporting data integration with unique VA inventory systems, maintaining GLNs centrally for VA location shipments, and testing non-production data for EHR integration and development. LSPedia's purpose-built solution, coupled with its proven capabilities in product tracing, verification router service, EPCIS data exchange, and exceptions management, not only met but exceeded the VA's requirements for high-performance, secure, and seamless drug supply chain operations. Additionally, LSPedia's quality management system, certified under ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, further underscored its commitment to organizational, product, and service quality in alignment with the VA's stringent security requirements.
