Natac Biotech, a unit of Madrid-based plant extract producer Natac Group, has received a GMP quality certificate from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Products, allowing the company to make active ingredients for the pharma industry.
The GMP certificate will allow Natac's factory in Hervás, Cáceres, to manufacture ingredients based on medicinal plants, such as passion flower and saffron. The Hervás facility, which also holds an organic certification, was opened in 2021. The 226,000-square-foot facility houses a production area, offices and a warehouse. The multiproduct center, which offers various extraction technologies as well as state-of-the-art equipment, has an estimated annual processing capacity of 3,000 tons of raw material.
"The GMP will allow us to diversify our product portfolio by incorporating APIs, and will help us to expand our portfolio of national and international customers, doubling our current target market,” said Antonio Delgado, Natac CEO.
