OncoZenge says it plans to partner with specialty pharma company, Pharmanovia, regarding exclusive commercialization rights of its experimental oral lozenge formulation of bupivacaine, known as BupiZenge, in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.
The pending deal — which the partners hope to sign by November 30, 2024 — will include Pharmanovia paying potential milestone payments up to $7.6 million (€7 million) in support of the phase 3 program and commercialization for BupiZenge. It will also include commercial milestone payments and royalties on product sales.
Pharmanovia specializes in life cycle management, commercializing and marketing iconic branded prescription medicines around the world. If the partnership is signed, Pharmanovia will play a key role in providing important regulatory- and market access expertise to help ensure a successful clinical program and subsequent market introduction.
OncoZenge's BupiZenge is a non-opioid oral lozenge formulation of bupivacaine, a decades-old anaesthetic. Currently in phase 3 trials, its lead indication is oral pain due to an inflammatory condition called oral mucositis that affects millions of patients receiving cancer treatment.
