Gilead, Terray Sign AI-Powered Drug Discovery Pact

Gilead Sciences and Terray Therapeutics have entered into a strategic collaboration to discover and develop novel, small molecule therapies across multiple targets.

Per the deal, Terray will utilize its tNova platform to discover and develop small molecule compounds against a set of targets selected by Gilead. If Gilead exercises its option to exclusively license the compounds directed to a target, Gilead will be responsible for further development and commercialization activities for products resulting from the collaboration.

Terray’s tNova platform combines high-throughput chemical experimentation and computational analysis with a generative AI-driven drug discovery engine. The company’s iterative approach applies AI-empowered methods to a library of quantitative, purpose-built, structure activity data to find the right molecules to solve complex problems in drug discovery.

While the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, Terray will receive an upfront payment and is eligible to receive preclinical, clinical, and sales milestone payments as well as tiered royalties on net sales.

Terray has inked similar deals involving its tNova technology. Back in October, the biotech signed a strategic collaboration to jointly discover and develop small molecule medicines against transcription factor targets of interest with Odyssey Therapeutics. In December 2023, Terray signed a a multi-target collaboration agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb to use the tNova platform to discover and develop small molecule therapeutics against “targets of interest.”
