Plant-based ingredients and pharmaceutical excipients provider Roquette has launched a new and refreshed coatings platform for pharma and nutraceuticals.
The new offerings, which represent Roquette’s widest collection of versatile and sustainable coating products to date, are designed to address the evolving needs of the pharmaceutical prescription, nutraceutical and over-the-counter markets.
The platform brings together Roquette’s ReadiLYCOAT plant-based ready-to-use coating systems with South Korea-based Kofitech’s Tabshield ready-to-use film coating systems. The goal is to offer pharma and nutra manufacturers a single comprehensive touchpoint for sustainability, speed, and performance through a range of coating premixes.
Eyeing a coatings market projected to reach $2.78 billion by 2027, Roquette’s new platform is “designed to help drug and supplement producers seize these opportunities with effective and eco-conscious solutions that enhance user experience – whether that’s by masking bitter-tasting active ingredients, smoothing tablet surfaces for ease of swallowing, or providing surface color to help patients differentiate their medications,” said Paul Smaltz, Head of the Pharmaceutical Solutions Business Unit at Roquette.
