Data from the EB613 phase 2 clinical trial demonstrate that the oral osteoporosis drug from Entera Bio significantly improves bone density in postmenopausal women.
EB613 is a once-daily oral PTH(1-34) anabolic tablet. If approved, it would be the first oral bone-building therapy for postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, who are at high risk of suffering fractures.
The clinical trial tested the drug on early postmenopausal women as well as on women 10 years post-menopause. Increases in bone mineral density (BMD) at the spine, femoral neck, and hip were found to be both significant and consistent. Gains in BMD were noted after six months with the treatment.
A phase 3 study is upcoming, which will use 2.5 mg of EB613.
