Lupin is discussing a potential acquisition of Vitabiotics, the largest vitamin and nutraceutical company in the UK, people familiar with the matter told the Economic Times.
The Indian drug company will be partnering with global private equity firms TPG Capital and EQT to gain financial sponsorship for the sale, which is estimated to be around $1.25 billion. Vitabiotics is owned by the Lalvani Family and has several flagship brands, including Pregnacare, Wellman and Wellwoman.
Acquiring Vitabiotics will allow Lupin to strengthen its consumer health and nutraceutical presence in key markets, such as the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. It will also enable the company to expand its portfolio from prescription generics to brand-name products.
