BioAge Labs has reported that its NLRP3 inhibitor, BGE-102, achieved potential best-in-class reductions in high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) in patients with obesity and elevated baseline inflammation.
BGE-102 is a structurally-novel, orally-available, brain penetrant small molecule NLRP3 inhibitor. In the phase 1 trial, it led to more than 85% median hsCROP reductions at daily doses of 120 mg and 60 mg. The drug also led to consistent reductions across multiple inflammatory biomarkers and was well tolerated at both doses.
BioAge plans to start a phase 1b/2a proof-of-concept trial in diabetic macular edema (DME) and a phase 2 proof-of-concept trial in cardiovascular risk in mid-2026.
