Vanda Eyes New GLP-1 Indication for Motion Sickness Pill

Following positive results from a phase 3 study, Vanda Pharmaceuticals is planning a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for Nereus (tradipitant) for the prevention of vomiting associated with GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy.

Neureus met its primary endpoint of a statistically-significant reduction in semaglutide-induced vomiting compared to a placebo. In addition, it met the key secondary endpoints of reducing multi-day vomiting, extreme vomiting, and vomiting together with severe nausea.

In January 2026, the oral neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor agonist became the first motion sickness treatment to receive FDA approval in more than 40 years. Back in September 2024, the FDA declined to approve the drug for treatment of symptoms in gastroparesis, handing Vanda a complete response letter. However, it remains in clinical development for this as well as other indications.
