Compass Pathways, in partnership with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), released a new report summarizing findings from a national survey of people living with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), revealing the extent of unmet need for people living with the condition.
The survey highlighted the self-reported realities of living with a condition that can profoundly affect daily life, revealing the burden of prolonged depressive episodes without meaningful relief.
In the survey, 95% of patients (n=261) described themselves as either functioning but struggling, surviving day-to-day or barely getting by. Most patients (almost 75%) feel that they have tried all available treatment options and are emotionally exhausted from trying treatments that have not worked.
Compass Pathways could become the first company to secure FDA approval for a psilocybin-based treatment, with its lead candidate, COMP360, under evaluation for TRD and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The investigational synthetic psilocybin treatment has received FDA breakthrough therapy designation and the UK's innovative licensing and access pathway (ILAP) designation for TRD.
An update on COMP360 is anticipated November 3, when Compass reports its third-quarter results. At last update, the company was advancing a rolling NDA submission, with final submission targeted for Q4 2026.
