Bristol Myers Squibb has released results for its phase 3 SUCCESSOR-2 trial, showing that oral cereblon E3 ligase modulation (CELMoD) mezigdomide reduces the risk of disease progression or death by 52% in patients with multiple myeloma.
CELMoD mezigdomide is taken in combination with carfilzomib and dexamethasone (MeziKd). The trial compared this combination to carfilzomib and dexamethasone (Kd) alone in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). The results showed that the therapy led to a clinically-meaningful and statistically-significant improvement in progression-free survival (PFS) of 18 months vs. 8.3 months.
These are the first phase 3 results for the drug but follow positive interim results released in March, which similarly found an improvement in PFS and a comparable safety profile to Kd.
